Our visitors are surprised to see that there is an incredible place to see wildlife in only 2 hours from Santa Cruz!
Los Volcanes is situated at the border of the southeast part of Amboro national park, combining pristine (premontane) forests, convenient infrastructure and a relatively little known fauna. Los Volcanes represent one of the most biodiversity places in the department of Santa Cruz. The shelter is in a valley, which is a perfect habitat for birds, many of which are difficult to find in other areas in Bolivia.
Special ones that you may see are the Condor Andino, the black chested eagle, Military macaw, Tucancillo Esmeralda, mammals such as the Anto and Puma and some others.

2 days - 1 night
Day 1 Santa Cruz - Los Volcanes
Transfer from Santa Cruz to Los Volcanes at 8:30am, arrival at 10:30am. If we wish, we can walk the last part of the road to the refuge (4 km. going down). Here we can see interesting things and enjoy the landscape. We advise older people, to bring a walking stick, because the hike takes about an hour and a half and is some what difficult. We also recommend bringing adequate shoes to walk in the camp.
Another option is to go all the way to the refuge with a jeep, which will be waiting at the beginning of the road.
In the afternoon we will hike "the Loop" path.
(Lunch, dinner.)
Day 2 :
We wake up very early in the morning and after breakfast we continue to explore nature by hiking along the "Pura Vida" path.
Afterwards we depart to the pre-Incan ruins of El Fuerte (the last pre-Incan religious construction).
We visit the archeological museum and have lunch in Samaipata.
In the afternoon we return to Santa Cruz at about 17:30pm.
