TARABUCO

 

DAYTRIP (ONLY ON SUNDAYS)

An indigenous village (about 60 km from Sucre) called Los Tarabuqueños where they still gather in traditional costumes every Sunday. We will visit the marketplace where we can buy handicrafts and textiles with fabulous colors. We experience the meeting of two worlds.
Includes: Guide, transport and lunch.
 

Tarabuco is the capital of the Yamparaez Province and it is to 60 km of the city of Sucre, to a 3,200 altitude of m.s.n.m.; the most important activity of the population is agriculture, the cereals and tubercles take place mainly.

It is an originating native indigenous population of the Yampara culture that maintains its expressions, folkloric, clothes, customs and traditions cultural. Well-known fundamentally by its traditional textile crafts valued internationally. The days Sundays the Fair of the town is made, where activities of commercial and social interchange take place; the seat, the market and the streets become festive and glad with the presence of the villagers who with their
elegant and showy atuendos give to this day own colorful movement. Every year, the third Sunday of March, one of the indigenous events folkloric more important of country, denominated "PUJLLAY" is made (game), in this celebration participate more than sixty indigenous communities with a concentration of around 1,400 farmers, who dress typical suits their communities.
   
 
This celebration commemorates Batalla de Jumbate. The Pujllay begins with the celebration of a mass in language
quechua, continues with the parade of hundreds of dancers, specially adorned, chooses to the Ñhusta (indigenous feminine beauty) and the ceremony of the "Pucara" is celebrated, religious magical symbol of pre-Hispanic origin.
